Hi all,

I always tried to avoid using pop ups on my sites. Recently I installed a pop under that invites users to subscribe to my newsletter. Subscriptions went up by 50%, so now I'm a bit in a dillema about using pop ups: they do work, but maybe they scare some people away.

Anyway, I want to try pop unders for affiliate links and see how that converts.

What I want to do is: for first time visitors I want a pop under for the newsletter and for returning visitors I want a pop under with affiliate links.

Does anyone know a script that does this?

Kind Regards,

Dirk.

My guess is that this is because on your site it's difficult for people to signup to your newsletter. So, once you've got them browsing your site, they get interested in it, and when (eventually) they see your popunder, signup.

Personally, and I think I speak for a lot of people here, I loathe and abhor the blighters, and close them the second I see them. Plus of course the many popup/under blockers that are so populare nowadays.

Try making your newsletter signup link more visible on the page, see if that has the same effect. It will probably lead to an even greater signup, as more people will see the link.

As regards your question, you need to drop a cookie. If the cookie exists, show links. If not, show newsletter. I doubt that it'll have the same effect, but hey, who knows.
