I used one about 10 years ago (a remington) and got fed up with it rather quickly because it was uncomfortable to use. The fast moving cutting blades made the protective foil hot and this caused an unpleasant sensation on the face, causing irritation.
Have shavers progressed since then? are they really a viable alternative to wet shaving?
Be glad to get your opinions.

May venture into it some day. Though today is a no shave day, as i feel out of my bed a little late, and rushed into work completely dishevelled.
I'm a Mach 3 man, though bic's come in hand if the M3 has turned into a cut throat, and i can't acquire one from the corner shop.
Update:
Just got out the masking tape and put it back together. The rash from the foam 'n bare blade was getting too much and the family was avoiding me, blotched, hairy and muttering.
Only regret is I couldn't use duct tape. All out.
Anyway, half shaved and happy.

No gel, cream, or water with the blade. So long as I'm fresh out of the shower my skin is razor burn free. (even shaving against the grain)

I use a blade too. Those electrics just rub me raw in no time. The only thing different I do, is shave in the shower most of the time. Good hand soap works better than that sissy cream stuff any day ;-)
I simply refuse to shave everyday. After getting out of the service I made it a point not to. Now I keep a mustache and a beard and make it a point to keep them trimmed up. Haven't seen my chin in years. :)
