Sometimes I'm a late adopter of new things and wait to see what experiences everyone else has before I waste my time and the Link Units was getting such mized results I just bagged the idea. However, after my Commission Junction revenue took a slide this month I decided to replace one CJ Smart Zone ad locations with AdSense Link Units last night.

I get up this morning and much to my surprise my Sunday earnings are UP and Link Units contributed 30% of the income!

I sure hope this isn't a fluke.

It's quite possibly _not_ a fluke. My average from Adlinks is 25% of my total Adsense revenue, dating back to mid-March. I have had some very bad adlinks days and some very good ones. I'm glad I didn't do my testing on one of the bad days. :)

WOW! Just checked my stats again and thanks to AdLinks I've already hit my usual Sunday earnings and the day is only half over. This is crazy stuff!

iBill...unusual for you to be a late adopter!

April Ad Links 44.5% of earnings
May Ad Links 45.9% of earnings

With these kind of figures I'd like to try 2 x Ad Links and 2 others, I'm not too sure whether 3 x Ad Links would work but I'd give it a try.

"late adopter" is also a code for "procrastinator"

Hope they keep going well for you iBill, keep us informed.

I'm just packing for southern Germany and an exciting week of exhibiting myself in front of everyone!

Seriously though, it means a few days off trying some excellent German beers, hospitality and Bavarian smoked ham, and that's just for breakfast...it's a hard life and I'm weakening:-)

If I have the misfortune to find an unoccupied Net terminal in the complex, I'm not so sure it's a benefit that I do know where they are, I'll check in to see how your Ad Links progress.

When I added adlinks to my sites, my income doubled. I've had it on since it's been available (about a month) and the results have been consistent.

My goodness, just got back from mexican dining and mexican beer (imagine the combined effects with refried beans but I digress) and this is the best Sunday I've seen in AdSense in 3 months and AdLinks is the only change!

Bavarian smoked ham

I have that for lunch about 3 times a week already :)

Enjoy the German beer, I should really lock in a trip for Oktoberfest now while I'm thinking about it!

I'm curious as to where on the page you're placing AdLinks - above the fold, below the fold, etc.

My initial testing of AdLinks provided income, but I felt it was at the expense of the AdSense ads.

Has your AdSense income remained stable, and Adlinks added to it?

Anyone done better by replacing the regular Adsense ads with AdLinks?

I put AdLinks directly atop my skyscraper ad on the left hand side, above the fold, somewhat close to the top of the page. My CTR shot up from 3.5% to 5% on a weekend and the earnings are solidly up 30% or more still.

This is a weekend day which is low for me so I'm all excited to see what happens tomorrow, I'll report back :)

My revenue from adlinks this month, just added them on the first after a few test runs last month, is very nice. It doesn't seem to have affected regular adsense earnings. I also put mine in the side margin, above the fold.

By the end of the month, I'm expecting an extra grand in my pocket(getting close), from the adlinks.

wow - adlinks - wow

Yesterday ended huge and today at noon I'm 80% of last monday, this is huuuuuuuuge

AdLinks is also now the highest earning ad block on the site, unreal. I never would've believed it as I've never clicked on one when I saw them, they just didn't appeal to me at all, I can't believe so many people click them!

Based on the 2 day trend it will outperform a month of commission junction sales in less than a week.

Commission Junction, what's your function?
Hogging up ad space with things that don't pay....

Well ta ta CJ.

AdLinks is just freaky, I love it.

Are AdLinks performing better through more clicks or through higher payout per click? I don't see the logic in this but I guess I should try it out then.

Interesting! I had also been resistant to AdLinks but I'm starting to redesign my home page, which had gotten too busy. And I put an adlinks block top left, blended in, above links to various sections and key pages on my site.

That was two weeks ago. Performance day to day has been up and down--interestingly, the links vary by topic considerably. Google perhaps is testing to see what works best. But it's added to overall income (though it's hard to tell by how much, since the home page redesign has changed traffic flow around the site).

I like the idea of putting it on top of a skyscraper ad, because that's what I already use on my site and that would be an easy change to make. I think I'll wait a week or two, though, so I can establish a clear baseline.

Kudos Bill, on getting rid of CJ ads.

Their function is to suck up clicks then make sure you don't get paid much for them.

IT'S OFFICIAL!

If I tell my wife my current earnings as they come in ONE MORE TIME today she's going to beat me to death with a blunt object.

I use a three column layout on my site and have adlinks above my content (middle column) on some pages. Other pages, maybe a paragraph down with content around it to make sure that the adlinks were targeted for that page. Redesigned the site so that 160x600 adsense text links were on the left nav and site nav on the right. Funny thing is, pageviews stayed the same, so visitors weren't leaving the site prematurely to click adsense ads. The only thing that really changed were double the clicks and of course the income. Let me also point out that I tried to ad another ad unit to the page ... income and ecpm dropped. I immediatly took the second ad unit off. So, what works for me is left nav text skyscraper and adlinks in the middle of content. Glad to see others benefit from adlinks.

Ha ha, funny comment about your wife.

I got knocked in the head earlier myself, when I blurted out current earnings.

Tweaking is so nice, I've been doing it intensely for about a month now, over tripled my earnings as of yesterday, highest day ever... this has been happening a lot lately.

OK, I'm notably impressed with AdLinks now it that isn't abundantly clear from this thread.

It's 3PM PST and I've already reached my normal daily earnings for a Monday with 9 hours to spare.

I checked my channels and the leaderboard and skyscraper are doing what they always do for this time of day, it's 100% the adlinks.

HOWEVER, I had one mildly sobering thought beyond my glee of the loud ringing >KACHING!< >KACHING!< sound of ca$h today is that AdLinks probably is doing more for the publisher than the advertiser. Why I say this is because when someone clicks on the AdLinks link they get presented with a full page of nothing but advertisements with no "Back To..." link in case the page isn't exactly what they wanted or anything, so the only exit presented by the page itself is to an advertisement. Good for the publisher, good for Google, maybe not so good for the advertiser but it's hard to say, just a thought.

Are we allowed to click on our own adlinks, to see what it shows? [as i understand it will take you to another page that displays the ads] I am intersted to see how it works?

you know these days i even dont click on any adwords ads even on google.com, as a former eMerchant, i just CANT bring myself to do it!

I tentatively clicked on some of my adlinks earlier this week, was told it's okay.

Clicking the AdLinks doesn't cost anyone anything, but clicking the ads on the next page does.

okay, there we go...

hhmm i like the interface its neat and simple and it seems the targeting is slightly better or almost the same. Do you guys/gals see simliar targeting or is it different?

I was wondering if the new release of adlinks had anything to do with Yahoo introducing it's version of Adsense. Is that why Google is paying so well? It may be too much of a risk for some of us to switch when we are making so much. Just my thoughts.

<off topic> Yahoo is already late. Much more than monetary incentives, Adsense is a HUGE branding machine for google. Surfers will associate Google with what they are looking for, even if they are not using Google.com

Someone asked if it was paying more than my other adblocks and the answer is NO, it's not.

I just checked and AdLinks is actually paying a few cents under my leaderboard average per click, but the CTR is way higher than the other 2 adblocks, almost double.

Simply amazing.

my adlink CTR is almost half my leaderboard one.

My Adlink CTRs are slightly lower than overall CTR, although, for the first week, it was much higher... novelty factor, I think. I have many repeat visitors.

Adlinks is about 25% of my income this month. I should clear 4K.
