Ads by Goooooooooooogle

Anyone spotted the above with their ads? Kinda strange I think.

If AdSense Advisor is reading this thread...any hints on the logic for adding this? Is it to draw attention to the Google logo? The ads (higher CTR)? Or is to make sure that ads are clearly identified as ads, thereby reducing junk clicks?

For what it's worth, I have to say I think it looks tacky. It's cute at the bottom of the Google search page -- on the ads it looks like someone made a typo.

I don't like this at all. It looks childish and tacky.

From Google's "What's News" page:

Ads by Goooooogle

We're currently running a test with new branding features on Google ads. You may notice some of your pages displaying 'Ads by Goooooogle' ad units. We welcome your feedback on this new look, and we'll be analyzing the results of this test over the next while.

IMHO, I really don't understand what they are attempting and agree that it doesn't look professional.

It looks stupid....TAKE IT OFF PLEASE!

I can't see how it would increase click thrus...looks cheap and "spammish"...My concern is that the opinion of it will be if a site is displaying "spam" they must be spam also? Can we take this off ourselves somewhere.

I admit, I am a fan of the Goooooooooooogle :) I think it catches the eye because it is unusual. And it has created a buzz.

Since this was beta tested well before they unleashed it on the masses today, I am guessing the AdSense team must have seen an increase in the CTR on ads running the Goooooooooooogle.

I don't know many who would trade in the Goooooooooooogle for a diminished CTR ;)

I'd say they changed Google to Goooooooooogle to make sure people identify Adsense as actual ads. This will perhaps increase the ROI for advertisers, because visitors will not click ads if they are not looking to buy something. Well, it's just a guess of course. The increased CTR is an option too, but I don't see why Google would want to increase CTR when there is probably (?) little or no advantage for the advertisers.

Ow, and I don't like the looks of the new name. It indeed looks childish. Microsooooooooooooooft, IIIIIIIIIIBM. It stinks.

Brett, if Google decides that works please don't change this site to weeeeeeebmasterworld. I don't often criticise Adsense but I agree, this doesn't look professional.
