But each has made more today (Tues April 13, 2004) than any other day in their AdSense earnings history. If one or two publishers had reported this, it could be coincidence. But six publishers in such different keyword areas, impressions and CTRs have all reported the highest daily earning total ever - and noticeable in a period when so many publishers have had record-low earnings (including at least a couple of those 6 publishers) in the first 12 days of April.
Could the AdSense team have received enough less-than-glowing feedback to make a change or a rollback to the "new and improved" AdSense that publishers have been experiencing since the beginning of the month? Was this April 1st - April 12th period the "New Coke" phase of AdSense?
There has been plenty of negative feedback to these new chages, with publishers threatening to leave and try competitors. But if publishers start recording record high earnings, will the first 12 days of April be shortly forgotten and AdSense will once again claim the golden image of being the best-thing-going for content site owners and hobby sites?
Timing is crucial, especially with Quigo's Ad Sonar poised to launch, supposedly this week. However, even that remains to be seen, since Ad Sonar has repeatedly pushed back their launch date. But for Google AdSense, having a competitor launch at a time when so many publishers are unhappy would be bad for AdSense and a dream come true for that competitor. And Ad Sonar could finally come through and launch this week, even if they wouldn't have otherwise, simply to capitalize on that publisher unhappiness.
Is this all just a mere coincidence? Or has there been a significant change in AdSense? There could have been an EPC split that is more favorable to publishers than it has been recently. Or the AdSense team could have tweaked their algo slightly so that publishers are getting better targeted ads than what was seen during the first 12 days of April, resulting in a higher CTR.
Are others seeing record or near-record earnings for Tuesday April 13, 2004? (Do make sure your stats have updated - some have reported much-delayed stats today, which often happens when there has been a change). Or noticed a significant change with better targeted ad or higher than normal CTR or EPC? Or anything else that could be attributed to a change?
Please, no gripes :) Keep it constructive and on-topic with what has changed with AdSense as of April 13th, why, and what it all means ;)
Hopefully they made some adjustments and this will stick.
On the other hand, while I don't have final page views for Tuesday yet, it is already the largest number ever for my site. That helps too.
Most of my employees think I'm daft for having AdSense on my site in the first place. If revenue continues to decline, I'll have to agree with them.
Revenue is a bit better because impressions are sharply up for tuesday (end of holidays) but the EPM is just below the average for April.
My April average EPM is 15% below both Feb and Mar, 37% down from November 2003 (this is on mid-tens of thousands of impressions daily). Not as bad as some, but still a continual decline.
[added later]
April is "only" 15% down because my CTR has gone up a bit. The real cause of the decline is falling EPC - average EPC for April is down 30% from Feb and March.

CTR was up about 1-2% from moving norms.
If the payout for other programs is equal or close i would choose them, i am sick of adsense and the looming "invalid click" termination fiasco. I do not need to waste my time dealing with an ad organization that feels the need to toy with people in such un ethical ways.
Income was up 56% on the daily average.
But overall income is still down 46% for the 13 days of this month compared to the first thirteen days of last month.
The trend (I think) is looking better, maybe the algo's IS getting smarter and smarter. I'm certainly seeing better targeting and maybe other visitors are seeing better ads too... thus the higher number of clicks. Traffic numbers are about the same.
Like everyone else I have been down 35 to 40% across the board. EPC and CTR
Earnings are up for the 13th but not with an increased EPC it is the number of clicks that has gone up. This leads me to believe that it must be better targeting. I have over 3000 pages so I am unable to view the ads to visually see if the ads are better. (life is too short for tha
However, I'm one of the lucky ones. My EPC dropped 30 to 40% for the first 11 days of April. The last two days (12th and 13th) my EPC have been right back at the top of their previous range. There has been no significant change in CTR throughout this period.
I am in a niche travel sector with around 2000 impressions a day.

Of course, I don't watch Adsense as close as some here, so maybe I missed a irrelevant ad here or there - but every ad I have ever seen on the sites I have it on has been on the money.
I can't compare yesterday to "the beginning" because I wasn't around in the beginning. And only have from mid January on to compare results with.

Europe might have been better on Tuesday than Monday.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday were predictably bad days because people were traveling or just had better things to do than surf the net. That creates a short burst of higher demand during the following few days.
Depending upon the category an additional bump may have been seen because of seasonal factors. Following Easter people think about summer vacations, moving home, buying summer outfits...etc.
Give it a week and let's see who is still seeing an increase!
Could also be the Easter holidays finishing and more advertisors coming online again.
CTR is still down from March (probably because of the new ad-matching algorithm), and EPC is also lower.
