They claim that I have been clicking on my own ads. Which I have not.
No recourse, just, <paraphrase>"We cannot reveal our algorithm, but we reviewed your account again and confirm that invalid clicks were generated with your account"</paraphrase>

I have not clicked on any of my ads. I have emailed them several times and this is all I get above.
Has anyone else experienced this?
$250 isn't much, but it's a big deal when they take about 90 days to pay and then when you are about to get your first check they boot you.
How is it possible for them to confirm that I've been clicking on my ads when I haven't?
Thanks in advance for advice,
Rusty

[edit reason] No email quotes as per TOS, thanks! [/edit]
In any case, I have to research the sites to see if they are competitors.
Google should determine which IP's are the webmaster's, as to not charge for click thru's, that way, those IP's will not be able to abuse their ads and less people would get booted and have to read this thread.

One site should not have significantly higher CTR than another unless it is specifically doing something to get its users to click on their Ads
Another factor in determining what a reasonable click rate should be is the size of the site hosting AdSense, as well as the number of outbound click options from the page involved.
For example, a one page site whose only "exit" option is AdSense ads will see higher CTR than a large site with plenty of other internal and external click options for the user.
It would shock me if Google has hard rules about what consistitutes a reasonable CTR.
Your best bet is to appeal to them nicely, tell them how you are 100% behind their policy of not tolerating fraud, how you would never condone any self-clicking and explain that someone else may have clicked on the ads from that IP number you used to check stats... and request that they take a few moments to have a look at the account again.
If it doesn't work, go try Adsonar (when and if they do get off the ground).

I am also sure that they have been carefully reviewed by Google because they have a high CTR
Not necessary. The algo takes care of that, checks patterns, range of different IPs the clicks are coming from, different countries etc and sees if it's consistent over various time periods. It probably does loads more.
There... now watch me get booted for complying 100% like rustyAce here...
I've been called lazy, bordering on Fooleshness, and now a THEIF... nice crowd... I suppose NONE of you guys EVER clicked on one of your own ads... at least im honest, and I said I do it RANDOMLY for RESEARCH ONLY...
man tensions run high in the Adsense booted thread...

Anwyays, imagine if you will how AdSense pays the rent and the grocery bill for these people and I think you'll empathize a little bit more of why they take this so seriously.
Yes, very good point. I should probably have added that as a caveat to my arguments.
Secondly once a primary site as been approved for adsense adding the adsense code to other sites which use bad practices will get all your sites kicked.
Thirdly it easy to come to WebmasterWorld and say adsense kicked me I did nothing wrong, when usually the site owner has, or they are trying to promote another service like adsonar or something like that.
and finally your site may just have been targeted by a click bot with know ip address at adsense, it's a double edged swordn my only wish is that the adsense people where more open with their banning policies and let webmaster know why they where kicked.

Multiple clicks on one IP then the same IP logs into the suspect site's AdSense panel. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
>>I suppose NONE of you guys EVER clicked on one of your own ads
Never have, never will
I suppose NONE of you guys EVER clicked on one of your own ads
I did once, kind of absent mindedly. I saw a cool ad that looked interesting, clicked on it, and was so stressed about getting booted that I actually bought something on the advertiser's site. Fortunately the site sold t-shirts and not jewelry or cars.
Yes, I take AdSense TOS very seriously.
once a site as been approved there is nothing stopping you from adding spam to that site or changing things around to so that the site is now against the TOS of adsense...
True - I take your point.
In this particular instance though, whether or not that is the case here doesn't affect the main issue that rustyACE breached the AdSense TOS by allowing fraudulent clicks (however well intentioned) and by logging clients into his control panel, even if by way of demonstration. Both of those are against AdSense TOS.
Either will get you kicked from AdSense, and both are likely to start the "I didn't do anything wrong and got booted" posts.
I'm sorry RustyACE, but whatever you (or anyone else) may think of google's policies and appeal process (or lack thereof) to say you didn't do anything wrong, is just plain wrong.
Googles primary duty is to it's advertisers, not its publishers. And quite rightly.

I guess the moral of the story is this.
I followed the rules.
I got booted.
To get back to the original topic of this thread. Two scenarios:
1. I set up an Adsense account from my own PC, and regularly check my stats from my own PC. I click on a number of ads on my site. Google boots me out. Fair?
2. I set up an Adsense account from my own PC, and regularly check my stats from my own PC. I 'leave the room' and leave someone sitting at my PC. While I'm gome, this 'someone' clicks on a number of ads on my site. Google boots me out. Fair?
Come on, give me a break! How would you expect Google to distinguish between these two scenarios? And how would you expect them to respond when you tell them your story?

Yes. Fair. The word "responsible" comes to mind.

Google boots me out. Fair?
Damn right.
getting kicked off for clicking a few times seems a bit un-productive.
Try posting that in the AdWords forum and check the reaction.

You bet. It is your site - see where they are sending your visitor too. Every new ad, and at a min once a day to see if it is working. I also take time to go click a few times a day on my competitors ads. Keeps it all even that way.

I guess we won't be seeing AdSense ads on Webmaster World...or at least not for very long. :-)
