I've been thinking about this a bit lately and was wondering what all you SEO's think about it.

Some of the bids on my PPC adverts have me coming up in the top position of the second page. For a little bit more I can get on the first page but it would see my advert in the lowest position there. I have left my bids as they are for now but would be interested in any info. you have as to which position is best for a site in the SERPs or PPC advert to hold. Is being on the first page the key to it all or do searchers dig further?

So where would you rather your site/advert fall - Bottom of the first page or top of the second?

All input/ideas greatly appreciated, GM

Towards the top, (i.e. not necessarily #1) of the first page. Position 3 is a nice compromise because for some engines you have to be in the top 3 or top 5 to also get into their partner network.

I agree I love to be on the 1st page anywhere snuggly in the top 5 positions.

I have tested my rankings even on the major SE's and have not noticed any siginificant increase in traffic from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th positions.

Just my own personal observations.

Depending on the volume of searches the number 5 & 6 positions in overture can get you at both the top and bottom of the Yahoo search results.
