Shopping.com Bids going up, up, up, up!

More expensive than OV/AdWords to get started.

They used to be such a good deal and have yield great ROI. That might be coming to an end now. New pricing structure:

By the end of this year, I think you'll find that PPC costs are up across every platform. OV say that their avg. CPC is about $0.40 on the last figures I remember seeing. I predict that that figure may approach $0.80, or even $1, by the end of 2004.

This will be caused by a combination of 2 effects, 1) large numbers of new, high-level (thousands / month spend), and 2) big expansions in the budgets of existing advertisers, who having proved the business case for their internal purposes, will now increase their budgets by orders of magnitude

Great posts. Any estimate of how much Shopping.com's CPC's have gone up with this new pricing? I don't have the old rate cards, let alone the last year's worth.

I tend to agree that CPC's will go up, but not necessarily to an $0.80 average. Assuming the industry hits a 2% conversion rate, that's a $40 CPA.

Average increase in CPC is 5-10 cents, depending on category. There are also a few that have been lowered by 5 cents per click. Highest increase is 20 cents.
