Last week we decided to see if we can benefit from the top shopping search engine with ppc program.
We got into one[will NOT name it here] and deposited the mandatory $100.00 and started with over 40 products. We got approved in about 4 business days and ready to go. We increased the products to a little over 6 thousands and the $100.00 started very fast to disappear and nobody was ordering anything.
We tracked the clicks and found out that some have originated from the same ip addresses. But to be fair and from personal experience, I know that if I want to buy something:
1. I would start by looking a round and maybe bookmarking.
2. Or later go back to the first search engine/website I found the item and click again.
Mind you these are average $0.60 and highest $1.08 since we only went by the default.
Anyway the $100.00 was gone in a few hours and the product's status changed to 'inactive' which I understoond that the products were not listed. No more charges. Right?
It was late in the evening and decided to add more products the following day with higher ROI. As a last checked, I logging in the account and found out that my bill was about $103 and decided to delete ALL the products and upload only 1 just in case they cache the products and maybe refresh every now and then.
The bill was still climbing and I decided to close the account which I did. I got a email stating that it will take a full billing cycle which I assume is 30 days.
I was ready to pay the bill[extra clicks] up to the moment I sent the closure request.
Still getting charged for more clicks and decided to write to them again requesting to know what was happening.
Guess what I got from them?
Anyway I got an email indicating a 'maintenance' issue and had been escalated to their tech team and will 3-5 business days. A multi-million company with a sloppy QA forks or what?
This morning I checked again and SURPRISE!
Today alone, we have been charged $2.55 by 8am and over $30.00 since our account's products were inactive.
This is only one week and first timer in shopping search ppc, what's the deal with companies with million of posted products there?
Are they aware that there may be 'other' charges hidden in their bill.
At this moment I am still waiting to hear from them.
Anybody else experience this before?
They have a "If it's not broke, why fix it" attitude, when it comes to improving their technology... (From an advertiser's standpoint)..
Easy to see why you'd burn through $100 w/ 6K products though, considering minimum CPC's are around $.20-25 US...
