Hi all,

I've been playing around with Overture and Wordtracker the last few days. It's quite interesting because both services tell you how often a specific search term has been entered.
Using these numbers I tried to assess market size and buying potential for a niche product, however there are quite a few questions that I can't answer:

- what percentage of all combined internet searches do Overture and Wordtracker make up (total approximate amount of searches for a specific term)?
- how could be estimated what percentage of these searches are repeated searches? I can't really come up with an estimate of how big the market is, unless I know how many people repeatedly search for a term and how many searches are performed by new people?
- how could I establish an approximate product purchase conversion rate once I know the size of the market?

I am aware that what I am asking for here goes far beyond the data provided by Overture or Wordtracker, but I would be interested to hear what tools, services, data professional marketers use to answer these questions (and obviously how to spend as little money as possible for the answers).

Cheers,
Chemoul
