Hi, my keyword density for my main keyword shows the following on a checking program:

Title Found 1 time(s) in 11 words (Density: 18.18%) Keywords Found 3 time(s) in 42 words (Density: 14.29%)
Alt Text Found 3 time(s) in 72 words (Density: 8.33%) Link Text Found 2 time(s) in 110 words (Density: 3.64%)
Description Found 1 time(s) in 22 words (Density: 9.09%) Comments Found 0 time(s) in 0 words (Density: 0.00%)
Headings Found 1 time(s) in 11 words (Density: 18.18%) Bold Text Found 6 time(s) in 397 words (Density: 3.02%)
All Text Found 29 time(s) in 1422 words (Density: 4.08%)

What should the keyword density actually be? How do I acheive the best density?
Thanks

Trail and Error:

I've heard: 7-10%;
as well as 10-20%;

The leader of a popular keyword we are targeting has over 40% - go figure?!

Thanks for your reply. I also saw that it was suggested to have no more than 750 words on your main page. I tried rewriting but still could not get it below 1150 words. Is this a big issue? I've read where smaller pages are better and also that it really didn't matter. Just curious as to whether I should divide it into another page by moving a lot of it to a new page.

I would love to know roughly at what point does..
High keyword density become keyword spamming?

I have a single author site which means the keyword is mentioned continually

Is this a big issue

You should also try to keep your page size to a minimum, however
good quality content can go long way. I would look at your competitors
site as see how much page size you can play with.
