Number of characters in the title

Do spaces count?

I read on this site that Google only allows 60 characters in the title. Is that 60 characters with or without spaces? When I run word count in Word it tells me the word count with and without spaces. If Goggle doesn't count spaces my title would be fine, but if it does count spaces then it is too long. So I would like to know about the space issue as I may have to shorten the title.

I would suggest it's not including spaces.

I just ran a quick search for sites that are known to use long titles.... titles were clipped to just before the word that would make them run over 60 characters (without spaces), ie, title words 1-11 = 55 characters, 12th word is 7 characters long, therefore 12th word clipped

Hello, my advice with google is not use more than 5 words in the title (for SEO purpouses I mean). Less than 20% of keyword's density is not enough to take advantage of the little title boost for rankings).
