So your search engine ranking for a given keyword depends on your word density for that given keyword.

It also depends on the number of incoming links into your web page.

Now for the Q - does your ranking also depend on the relative keyword density in the websites that are linking to yours? That is - not all links are equal. It depends on to what extent they list the keyword. They are given relative weightings based on this.

if you believe in themes then the answer is yes, if you don't then the answer is no.

there's a lot of stuff here about hubs and authority sites that could be worth reading up on.

Many people say with google that it is "quality of links over number of links". What do they mean by this - is it related to the number of relevant keywords in these linking websites - that is what determines their quality?
