Are these tools accurate?

Hello everyone,

I have a site which has been around now for about 4 months (it was around longer before that, but I had no idea what I was doing back then). I am getting to the point where I am starting to get some traffic from Google (around 30 people a day) and am trying to build new pages out of keywords.

I have been using *********er (don't know if I can mention it here, it's the one everybody seems to use) and have been trying to target keywords with KEI's of over 80. From a list of about 1,000 keywords, I was able to find plenty. The problem is, I find myself questioning the accuracy of these results.

I got these terms from the program I was using, by typing in what I thought were good keywords, and then this program providing alternates.

My concern is that I look at some of the keywords and they seem crazy to me. I think to myself, surely 23 people aren't typing this in every day. Do I want to spend the time optimizing a page for this phrase when no one will type it in?

Did you all go through this? Were your concerns valid, or did you begin to get traffic for these suggested phrases after you put the pages up and waited? I have been targeting several phrases that have low or zero competition, but are averaging around 20-30 searches a day.

Thanks!
Matt

I had the same question at one time. I finally decided that some of the odd phrases were in fact a keyword list that had a comma. That the comma was not being shown and this was why the keyword phrases looked odd.

At least that was the only good explanation that I could come up with.
