A great method

Hi everyone, found this post from the beginning of 2002 and was kinda of wandering if the skillful people in this forum could enlighten me as to whether this is a great way to find keywords.

"What tools do you use to research your keywords and phrases?

1) Website Log File Analysis combined with the addition of wildcard words to the pages to pick up unusual search phrases and patterns
2) Google Adwords Select gives a daily search count if you set up multiple terms
3) Overture Monthly Report/Statement gives search volumes"

Also, what it is meant by each point? I do not understand? What method are all of you using nowadays to figure out your keywords?

There is also an online tool you can use (which can't be mentioned) . These methods are best when combined since each method can be skewed. For example Overture and Google are releasing their information to increase PPC so you will find sometimes the data isn't perfect. But it is still a good, free, quick first step.
