Soundview [finance.yahoo.com] suggests OVER has a bit of 'splaining to do.

Looks to me like Yahoo and MSN are teaming up in the background to take on Google.

It sure smells and looks that way ...!

I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

I for one could care less who supplies the secondary results, as this represents about .5% of my traffic.

What I would like to see at MSN is a change from Looksmart's Spammy PRIMARY results.

Well I'm happy about this yesterday I had 16% of my traffic from Ink freebies

Hundreds of sites I look after - with an average 15% of referrals coming via INK (discounting any L$/£ referrals). That amounts to something worth fussing about! There are plenty of people like me out there where INK is still pretty important.

I am shocked but happy. Never one to look for overnight wealth, my primary goals for continued success are diversification and longevitity. A deal like this, which keeps that traffic source unchanged, is a relief. MSN gives me approximately 15 percent of my traffic and I always rank well in the ink backfill. I am glad they decided to fix something that was not broke (for me) anyway.

The way I understand it, is that the Ink deal is non-exclusive. MSN can use anyone they wish at any time.

This is true Brett so they will probably keep LookSmart for now, though you can bet that Overture are putting pressure on MSN to go with some kind of improved Altavista feed as well.

I think Brett's post is dead on. No press releases about this on Ink's or MSFT's site... Seems like both parties know this is likely only a short-term agreement.
