I have a developer friend that tried xcompress, it worked great most of the time. Sometimes, it wouldn't even send the page requested!

I have been using xcompress since version 1.1
These guys (Wayne and Trevor) provide excellent support
and the product is very stable. (I'm doing about 800k compressed requests per day)

IIS also has built in compression which I know works for static pages, I believe is supposed to work for dynamic asp pages and definately doesn't work for Cold Fusion pages.

You can enable it under the WWW service master properties in the service tab.

I tested PipeBoost, xCompress and TurboIIS on my site. I've over 10 GByte per day generate by one server and the only one that is able to work with this traffic is TurboIIS. With both XCompress and PipeBoost my server dead for processor overload I two minutes and often InetInfo crash without any reason. In also, I resize images dynamically and the only one that optimizes image (and other mimes) transfer is TurboIIS. I don't understand where you test those programs: in your personal IIS at home? ;-) (I‘m joking)
Usually Italian prefers USA products because “made in USA” are quality synonymous but in this case I compare those products and, probably for the first and last time, an Italian software really works better then others.

I've been using xcompress for 3 months now and love it. Cut bandwidth by a third, and I've seen very little of a hit to my server performance. I'm serving up around 1.6 million pages a month. Mostly dynamic asp pages.

I'm a consultant, so i neet to provide the best solution for my major customer.

This weekend i tried TurboIIS vs XCompress and i think TurboIIS is more complete.

TurboIIS give better compression, more configurable and give very good reports.

XCompress have a better documentation but give poor performance compared to TurboIIS.

I used Microsoft WAST to test the two solution under heavy load.

P.S. i work with Coldfusion, but i tested ASP too.

Any other experience? With HTTPZip for example?
