ASP/Access script. Need minor (?) help. Anyone got a few minutes?

Hi,

I'm a newbie trying to install an ASP script (a bulletin board) to a Unix server (remote) using their Access 2000 app. This is way above my head....

It shouldn't be very hard, they say, but I can't figure out a path they want me to enter. Can some one give a hand?

Thanks in advance...

Dan

Do you have a (code) example?

asp on a unix server? why not use a message board in php or perl instead? or if you have to use asp, why not use asp on a windows server?

I'd have to agree with crazy. if you are wedded to an ASP bulletin board, you might want to find a Windows NT host for it. I can help you with that.

If the host is UNIX there are lots of other perl or PHP based bulletin boards available.

Will, Crazy, Txbakers....

Thanks for input. Should have replied earlier, but have been swamped.

Have found and installed another board (Ikonboard) and it seems to work OK, so I hope THIS particular topic has been dealt with.

However, I'm also trying to implement a template and SSI to the site. The template pops up nicely on each page, but the site menu that I'm trying to SSI into the template NEVER shows up. I've tried every possible combination of links (absolute, relative, URL) in vain for almost a week, and I'm about to go insane.

If anyone can shred a light on that, or maybe even lend a hand (If there was a way, I would be happy to e-mail a pizza and a sixpack as remuneration), you wouldn't believe how much it would mean....

Folks!

As "Crazy" noticed at another thread, the things are solved! I wasn't the bonehead (well...) I thought, halleluja!!!!

It turned out that the host had me believe that their server was configured for SSI, which it took five days to find out it wasn't. Great guys!

Now the board is NEARLY perfect. The only thing to solve is that the 4-5 links that should kick in javascripts and open pop-up windows are dead. Could it be that my clumsy SSI and CCS implementation have messed up things? Suggestions VERY appreciated.....

A MILLION THANKS for everybody's concern and input!!!

And Crazy: I've got a feeling you're standing a good chance to earn that cyber meal sooner or later anyway. ..
