Hi All,
My site had very good positions at Yahoo. The site is quite old (about four years) and the design was old too. I decided to make new design of the first page. I did it and in three days I found that the index page is removed from the index. Also 80% of internal pages are removed. I of coarse uploaded the old version of the site.
How do you think am I banned from yahoo? Do I have the chance of getting in again? What should I do else for getting the old positions? If the bot checks and finds that the sites is the same will I get in the index?
Dear friends,
In advance thank you for any comments.

Well it’s a major swing in policy that’s for sure. If you read the letter it’s pretty clear what they are saying and what they wish to accomplish. They want to make sure they demonstrate to you the site is there by instructing you to use a 5 to 10 word string: “enter an identifiable phrase (5-10 words) in quotes, that matches the title”. If there was ever a good way to find an individual site that’s it. They then go on to tell you if it’s there, they will not accept a request for inclusion. A fistful of sites we had excluded, have suddenly appeared using their instructions.

Obviously they have been thinking about this problem, and this is a fairly clever solution. What I don’t understand is why they banned so many sites that in fact do meet their criteria. Why not just let them back in?

Anyway, the real question now becomes is there any way to appeal, or ask that the site be looked at? It’s difficult, and a little disheartening, to accept there is no real hope for your site to be “truly” re-included.

soapystar,
Do you mean that we should know somebody at Yahoo?
THIS IS VERY SERIOUS SATEMENT .
ARE YOU AWARE OF THE MEANING OF IT?

Well... I do not know anyone and did not contact Yahoo but slowly my pages are coming back into yahoo and msn.

I went from 1000s down to my index.htm and now am back up to ~500 after 2 weeks.

I'm not sure what happened but I'm glad it turned out my site wasn't banned.

Truth is, nobody really knows what's going on. My site has dwindled down to only a few hundred pages now from 1800. Slurp has been coming to index the site again, but not as regularly as before. My site hasn't been banned, but was removed from the directory recently. The only thing anyone can do is sit and wait for Yahoo to rebuild the index.

I had a site get wiped off a couple of weeks ago, and it is slowly coming back. I think they turned a knob all the way to the right and recently have begun turning it back a few notches.

It means that unless you can bring to a real human being's attention the issue, which is more likely if you know that human being, you will be dealing with a faceless automated process that will do zero good.

So if you happen to know a yahoo person, they can take a look for you, which they will do because they know you, there are far too many problems for all of them to get human review. Don't get so excited about what is just a simple fact, someone who knows you will be more likely to take an extra step for you than someone who doesn't.

cyberprosper,
What do you mean in "slowly coming back"?
Are your rankings improving? or are the pages getting in the index again? or something else?
