The short answer: No one knows.
Google crawls all month, but assuming you mean the BIG monthly crawl, that's once a month some time starting around the last week of the month. The update comes first.
The last two updates were Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I remember GoogleGuy commenting about Christmas, I'm assuming it won't be then, since a lot of their people will probably be going out of town to be with family.
My best guess is that if it doesn't happen this weekend it could possibly be after the 1st of January. But guess is all we can do.

I'm having nightmares about a white (toolbar) Christmas.
Hope you've all left some sherry and mince pies for Google.
Whatever, I'm having a couple of days off. Let it update. Or not. Doesn't matter when.
Merry Christmas
[GoogleGuy gets up and does the Google Dance all around the room. He acts like a dinosaur a little bit ("Yar!"). Sometimes he does that when he gets really psyched about cool things like the new year. GoogleGuy realizes that he may be a little hyper from too many holiday cookies, and sits back down.]
So it is official. Expect the monthly update sometime on December 25th (in the U.S.)
