Hi, we can't make it to the first page although we
got the highest PR in the search result, and we got the
key word in the title wile the sites above us got the
"key word" spread randomly over the page and not in the title.

and It's not anchor text in inbound links ,cause most of the sites
above us got nothing to do with the search term, so 100%
they don't have the keywords in there inbound links.

Any idea what we missing, we thought that if u got the "key word"
in the title and u got the highest PR u will rank #1 (when anchor text doesn't
play a role )?

I claim total ignorance as to whether it is good or bad to have the outbound links. But I would think it would be in google's interest to encourage them.

If no one hade outbound links then pagerank would fall apart.

PoorOleMe said: "But that seems to have been written a while ago when outbound links were considered good. Now they are considered bad - or are they?"

Google's PageRank system does not reward outbound links, and indeed outbound links lower the amount of the page's PR that is transferred through each of the individual internal links.

However, PageRank is just one of the 100 factors google use in ranking, (and a factor that far too many people latch onto as if it were the only, or even the major ranking factor).

Google do look at out-bound links aside from PageRank, as is shown by the existance of the PR penalty sites can get for 'linking to a bad neighbourhood'. My personal belief is that they look at out-bound links in more detail than just to apply a penalty or not, therefore I'd still say the advice in the article is correct and valid.

I agree with Black Night,

For the time spent dealing with the PR algo, I probably could have been writing quality content instead, lol.

If you do use outgoing links (off-site), make sure it will be worth it by using your page keywords.

With your outgoing links (on-site, on-domain), also make sure these links use your page keywords. IMHO.

ikbenhet1,Black Knight , The sites above us got nothing to do with the topics, they just have the keywords spread randomaly over the page, so I'm 100% sure they dont have external links with the keywords on them.

Its sure seems like the only thing that got them up, is that they have the keywords all over the page, and if thats what we need to do, then thats what we need to do ,,,

It's just a serach engine. It does not like or dislike content because it cannot, as of yet, differentiate between quality content and other things.

Gilmit:
Google is not just a searchengine but a searchengine with the quite advanced ability to produce results based on recommandation by humans (=LINKS).
On the long term sites will have advantages if they have many inbound-links from quality sites especially when those sites are related to the topic.

And what seems to be the easiest way to get these links?
>> Produce quality content so humans will like it and link to it.
So to express it more precisely:
The Google-Algo does not love anyone or anything, because it's just an algo. But it relies to a certain degree on humans (and the links they set) and humans are able to distinguish between good content and rubbish.

Unfortunately, our technology has far surpassed our humanity.

Any human factor brings along with it greed and the potential for spam. I think we've seen this with the PR for sale problem. It's the people who take advantage of the Goolge Algo who ruin it, the SEO's. These are also the same people who can improve it! It's a double edged sword.

IMO Google has done a fine job reacting on this problem which shows the last update - interesting though what the next week will bring us. :)
