I have noted more than the usual shifting of pages in and out of the SERPs for the past week or so, and of course we have seen threads about updated backlinks (FWIW).
Anyone else seeing changes?

I see NO update on Google.com.
I see some changes, but I wouldn't term them as 'big' - checked over 200 KW's (travel) - doesn't appear to more than the 'usual' daily flux.
added: Actually, it does appear as if some of the blatent spam sites got dropped, or at least dropped down - good :)
I think Google may have "lost" backlinks for a number of sites.
One of ours dropped from 400+ incoming links to just 29, whereas all of the other sites have increased slightly.
Consequently, we have also lost a notch on the PR toolbar for the default page of the site.
This is not just happening to us though, I have seen complete loss on one website, and a number of large volume losses on well established websites.
As far as I know this happened either over the weekend or sometime on Monday.
zeus,
similar things happened to me in August. Never recovered, just keept sliding further. I was hoping that this update would take care of things...

The backlinks shown with the link: command are just a "sampling" of backlinks for the page. I don't believe that list of backlinks is related at all to the actual number of backlinks that google counts for the page or related to the PR for that page.

You could very well be correct, as we haven't lost a single position as yet... not even the slightest slip anywhere.
We did add two new sections which could explain the drop from PR6 to PR5, as the internal pages have remained the same (I am assuming the PR of these pages updated also).
seems they switched over one set of results with this new database that i am seeing from time to time.
when fresh dates come, they switch back to the other set of results (with the database most of us are probably used to).
looks like they dropped a database, trying to implement this new one that we see every 2nd day or so.
the new set of results that i see every 2nd day or so occur when fresh dates are not on the listings..
these results look to be more "content" focused & seem to be quite good. (hit or miss for alot of sites though.)
have been noticing they are using 2 main set of results for ages now, for whatever reason that is.
But today the cache has reverted to Oct 26, although there are other pages cached on Nov 2. If it's a fluctuation, it's very odd.
My front page is way up, the rest of the pages are no way down...seems like I got a -5 or whatever for the rest of the pages. Maybe th efront page has tha - too, but lots of links with good anchor overcome that up to a point. I also noted that several internal pages with inbound links are doing better. The thing is that a few other sites' pages with no (or less) inbound links are still ranking better.
Sometime back in Feb-Mar you announced the end of updates as we knew them, and from now on we could expect rolling updates. I've looked several times for the thread and haven't located it yet.
That post comes to mind almost every time I see another G-update thread. Your last post in this thread almost confirms it.
