Anybody have any idea what datacenter the main Google is pulling results from. It does not seem to match any of the known 10 or the gv.

Is there a new one we don't know about?

To find out what data center the SERPs are coming from, you can ping Google and look up the IP address in the following list:

www-ex : 216.239.33.*
www-sj : 216.239.35.*
www-va : 216.239.37.*
www-dc : 216.239.39.*
www-fi : 216.239.41.*
www-ab : 216.239.51.*
www-in : 216.239.53.*
www-zu : 216.239.55.*
www-cw : 216.239.57.*
www-gv : 216.239.59.*

On a Windows PC, open an MS-DOS window and type:

ping www.google.com

If you see a new IP address, please inform us.

Yep, I've been noticing that for the past couple of days. There's one SERP where I'm on page 4, but when I check all ten data centers, I'm on page 1.

Maybe geotargetting is working differently if you directly access a data center.

Same here. It happens occasionally and for small periods of time.

Okay, I pinged Google after seeing the page 3 results again. The Google tool showed that all data centers had the same result, but when I pinged for this particular search, it came up with the ex IP. So, is the tool just wrong?

Hmm, that it does. Learn something new every day. It still doesn't explain why the Google dance tool doesn't show this result.
