I have moved my site twice onto different servers, and both of those times, Google seemed to crawl the new server immediately. I guess the days where Google caches our DNS is over!

I'm sure they still have DNS cacheing, but about 18 months ago GoogleGuy indicated that Gogole would re-check DNS information more often and since then things have been much smoother for people switching IP.

Hey, I don't know what the current level of caching is, but I know that they wanted to make sure that things go as smoothly as possible when moving a web site. Glad that things have gone well for you!
