Hi everyone,

I have just invested in a name off an auction site that has
a PR of 0. I am sure it has a zero PR because it used to be
redirected towards the auction site that sold it, etc.
Now that there is no redirect on the name and that there
is a proper site built and new owner is there any way to
get the penalty lifted?

Thanks for any advice.

ps I cannot just ditch the name as it is a very important
address and I am sure it will do well in the long run, etc.

There might not be a penalty. PR0 shows for sites that have never been in the index. But if you need to, you can email Google once your new site is up and they should take care of you.

Send an email to webmaster@google.com with the subject line "reinclusion request."

Also, you can check out www.archive.org to see if there was ever a page there, before the auction site got it. If not, I wouldn't think it would have a penalty.

sometimes just acquiring "fresh" backlinks will get it included.

but to be on the safe side, make sure you send the reinclusion request to Google...

Every site I have purchased that way had a PR0 that is just how they come. I think google has a way of knowing that a site is for sale.

AFAIK, theres no penalty for sites that have been sold, otherwise the resale value of existing sites would drop dramatically.
If the site sat expired for a while though, then was picked up and sold by a reseller, it might get google's expired domain penalty..
