Language Tool vs Preferences

Does anybody know the difference between using Language tool settings and preference settings?.

Example:

Language Tool settings:
specific language
Any Country

And

Preferences setting:
Specific language

Should expectedly return same serps.

But it's not.

Number of results are different, positions on serps are different.

Country is where the sites shown in the serp is hosted, not the TLD.

I guess its a case of my site having French language pages hosted in the Netherlands on a .com that would not show up with your setting:

Language Tool settings:
specific language "French"
Any Country "France"

but would show up with:

Preferences setting:
Specific language: "French"

Did some tests, got identical results. Perhaps a case of getting different dc on the searches?

Today I too am getting identical serps, for some time I've got different results, especially for Germany, I'll continue testing and report results when they differ.
