VC Funding = Good PageRank?

Could links from your financial backers be worth as much as the $$s?

Was just checking out a site for a company that's VC funded -- a brand new site after a merger -- and noticed a very nice 6+ PR which seemed out of place for a site that had been a single-page logo'd "coming soon" for many months. Thinking the PR was a dance fluke, I checked their back links and noticed that most of their links come from the companies funding them. Checking out those Venture Capital companies I noticed really high PR on *all* of their web sites. I also noticed that every single one of the VC companies has links to the companies they fund (usually in an "our companies" section).

Wow, a benefit of getting funding that I bet most VC-funded companies never thought of! Hopefully they *won't* notice or we'll suddenly have a rash of entreprenuers giving up larger portions of their companies to specific VCs just so they can get a piece of that company's PR...might also mean that it's better to get funding from a VC that only funds a few companies so-as to get a higher % of their PR.

Anyway, it caught my attention so I thought I'd share.

Well, somebody that makes lots of 'news headlines' & press releases on all the right channels -> will *definitely* get more PageRank.

However, I think it would be easier & cheaper to do it without needing to go pitch VC firm after firm for funding...however, if you believe it's 'easy' to get some funding for your business - go for it! The world needs better businesses, it's why there are investor's out there looking for the next Ebay, Yahoo, etc.
