I have added this peice of code to my hosts file:
216.239.41.104 toolbarqueries.google.com
I was told that this would allow me to view my "new" PR for this update before it goes live to other servers.
I then saved my hosts file, but do not see a difference. Some of you may be thinking that maybe my PR didn't change. But, I have a brand new site that wasn't showing backlinks last month, thus I had a PR0. In -fi, however, I show over 100 backlinks and was told I should now have PR. However, when I loaded up my site with that new toolbar code in my host file, I still show PR0? Anyone know why? I heard reference to flushing your DNS cache...how does one do this? Thanks for your answers :)
Is the addition of "216.239.41.104 toolbarqueries.google.com" a permanent requirement to make Google toolbar work?
Why is the standard Google toolbar not working?
Isn't it kinda bad practice for Google to supply the Toolbar and it not work properly?
Are there other entries that need to be made in the hosts file to keep the Google Toolbar functioning properly?
I am showing Yahoo as a nine when I call the www-fi from the toolbar. I see alot of sites with one pr rank lower. This leads me to believe that I am missing something or that this isnt the final Pr for this update. Any thoughts?
More total pages indexed = lower average PR

No...its a temporary requirement to see new PR values resulting from the update.

Isn't it bad practice to make uninformed accusations? ;)
