There are several themes running through many threads this last month. I'm going to combine, splice, and clean a bunch of them out today. So many, that there is no way that I can stickymail all the members involved. If you can't find a thread, search around a bit, it was probably splice with another, moved, or zapped.

This thread will be updated as the day goes on - a quasi mini faq [webmasterworld.com].

Current Themes (where discussions will be spliced):
- FreshBot replaces deepbot and the associated "is there, was there, will there be a crawl" discussions.

- I lost my back links.

- Update over, just started, or finished?
[webmasterworld.com...]

- I lost my index page.
[webmasterworld.com...]

- I only have my index page:

- I lost other pages.

- Cross linking filters.

- Hidden text filters.

- Guestbooks - the seo topic that won't die.

Before posting a new post, please search back through the last 20-30 days thread topics to see if it has already been posted.

I have split, spliced, removed, moved, and downright abused some threads today while cleaning up the recent posts.

Per our recent discussion [webmasterworld.com] about this forum, there are some very definite steps being taking to raise the level of discourse here.

We could use your help with the following:

- One liner "me too" comments:
There is a growing use of the one liner "me too" comment response. They are often under 5-10 words. They are not helping the situation - merely are adding to the volume and not the quality of the forum. I cleansed about a thousand of these types of responses today.

- Duplicate topics:
There is no other way around this one but the combining of duplicate topic threads. Please, please search back a few days, weeks, and even months to find topics already posted.

- Off topic messages:
Please try not to ask questions in the middle of another thread. Changing the topic just makes it that much more difficult to follow the conversation.

- Management Issues:
There is such a volumn of posting lately - both good, and bad - that the moderators are having a difficult time keeping up with it all. Please respect their decisions and pitch in where you can.

Thanks,
Brett
