Your top 5 list of 'do nots' post Dominic

Are we any clearer yet?

Like many here, I had a site that has been at #1/#2/#3 for a variety of keywords for months. Up until last week I was still in these positions but as of last Friday I'm on page 3 or 4 for all my top keywords and it looks like I'm staying there!

My site content has not changed much and as far as I'm aware, there is nothing dodgy in my site. Can someone tell me, or point me to the place where there is just a list of say the top 5 things I need to check for (after this most recent update) to ensure that I'm not doing anything obvious wrong.

Thanks

  • Do not post any attempts at analysis until you have read all of Googleguys comments and are REALLY sure you understand what he is saying.

I for one don't apply any changes based upon the current serps. All I do is safe conservative stuff, like adding content, adding links, sharpen the copy etc.

But then I have no sites/pages dropped dramatically. I only see a lot of work done not yet reflected in the serps.

Obviously there's a list of things to avoid with Google, if you want to stay on the safe side. But those are all things predating the current non update.

Yeah, right. Googleguy has to be cryptic. No one can be REALLY sure they understand what he's saying.
