Does anybody have any insight into the possiblility that the use of Google Monitor or similar rank checking programs can adversely affect your rankings in Google. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Google frowns on the use of programs that compromise their resources...can they do more that frown and what would be the mechanics of a search word ranking drop by using such a program.

Thanks

from what i understand google (and or others) may block your IP. google may not know what url you are searching for, but if it were to affect the serp of a site that is checked it could be used maliciously against competitors.
