is it better to use regualr text links on a page as navigation or images with say a hotspot as worthy link, does this effect how google spiders my site? i know google indexes images of a site but will it index navigational menus? help me plz!

Use regular text, Googlebot does not follow imagemaps.

Googlebot doesn't follow links in imagemaps? I haven't heard that before.

I believe this is not correct. Most search engine spiders can follow links in image maps.
Text and alt text in anchors are better candidates.

Ok, maybe I'm just stuck in the past and being overprecausious, I still use additional textlinks when using imagemaps, just to be sure.
