Is Google banning Dmoz?

I’m starting to believe that Google has dropped the idea that the Human Review gave good results to the sites and it doesn’t give any more importance to ODP results.

Two major proofs for this are: A. Google did not synchronize its directory with Dmoz for a long time (for more than four months). B. There are some categories in Dmoz that their PR is 0! I wouldn’t suspect anything, except for the parent categories that have a high PR (7/10).

The main reason for Google not updating their mirror of the dmoz directory was because there was not a rdf dump avialable - or so I have read.

I would not trust the toolbar at the moment - if these are new categories(by this I mean March - April time) then they may have a white bar.

Those are very old categories (couple of years) their PR use to be 6/10 and now since this update start its 0/10.

The problem with the rdf start in September 2002 and it was over in February 2003 since then Google update synchronize its directory with Dmoz once.

If Google ever drop ODP, it'll be reported on the front page [webmasterworld.com].

Thanks

"since then Google update synchronize its directory with Dmoz once."

Kinda like the Google database, huh?

dubilbul,

Many people in this forum are reporting that pages that previously had higher PR now have PR0. I think this is just part of the current process that is going on ("Dominic update") and that it will be corrected with the next update.

See Googleguy's comment in this thread:
