The site is about 2 months old now, with a 0 page rank and no inclusion in odp or yahoo yet. I did my research prior to building the site (perhaps not enough but then can it ever be?), and I was very happy with the results at the start of the month. This is exactly what I had been hoping/expecting would happen.
Since that time my site has been dropped out of google rankings again. In fact, typing www.mysite.com into the google search yields no results (something that even occured while the site had the high rankings). Maybe I'm getting punished for stuffing too many keywords into the site?
Can anyone provide me with some additional reading on what might be going on? I'm quite at a loss and equally frustrated right now :/
Thanks,
Chris
If I was you I would be waiting until the next monthly update and hoping your site is fully listed then. The reason your site may be in and out of the results could be due to fresh bot. Fresh bot indexes your site but fresh listings seam to last a day or so then be removed from the index.
You mentioned that you think you might have receved a ban for keyword stuffing, Sounds like a bit of a guilty concience there ;-). If I was you I would try to get these issues addressed before the next deep crawl. You shoudl also try and get as many inbound links as possible, especialy open directory and Yahoo!. They all help.
Mack.
The site's already been submitted to both odp and yahoo, just waiting on the results. I've also got a couple hundred incoming links from a few affiliate sites.
In terms of a guilty conscience, I'm really not sure whether I should have one or not. I've read that anywhere from 1-20% density is where I should be aiming at, which is a broad range to play with. Looking at the top ten rankings in the keywords I'm targeting, they basically have next to no keywords at all which makes comparison difficult. All the top ranking sites are also 2-3 years old.
I'm sort of using this page as a guinea pig before spending the time optimizing my other sites. So far no good tho :P I realize it should be for SEO but patience is not a virtue I hold awefully dear.
