Post your best question you would like to ask GoogleGuy and at the end of the week, we'll pull out the top 10 requests and submit them to him in another thread:

Thread Rules:
-q's about Google operation. (not gg himself)
-one question only please.
-no noise or clarifying questions.
-no specifics about your site please.
-off topic stuff will be zapped (nffc is on duty!).
-Keep it short. Don't drone on for more than 2 sentences.

Can we expect to see a deepcrawl again? From the traditional 216. bot?

I live in Canada but want to see US (ie google.com) results - not google.ca results - my target market is in the US so I don't care where I rank on google.ca. Whether I search google.ca or google.com I get the same serps. I have to go through a US proxy to see real US results. Is there any other option for people in this situation?

Will Google change the text "sponsored link" with a more clear "advertisement"?

When Premium Ads eventually die and get replaced with Adwords, will I be able to buy bulk inventory in the top position?

Stable business needs a stable advertising budget!

Can we find out:

(a) how many people searched for a specific search term/phrase (similar to the Overture search term suggestion tool)?

(b) what are the most popular search terms on Google for a specific time period (what are people searching for)?

will google use distribuited computing so we can help it?

Not only for the science but also for the search engine calculation.

What is the importance of theme today and in the short future?

I know that the technology to efficiently calculate theme vectors exist, and that people in Google helped to develop it, but I guess it wasn't used because there wasn't enough "themed material" for most queries.

However, can we see some fine-tuning based on theme vectors in the future?

Brett: I like the idea, the rules are appropriate.
IMHO: Thread Title is mis-leading. <ZAP>

After an arm cramping scan of this thread, I see GG has never responded to a single question.

Can we have a professional thread such as this one with support from GG?

Now that all linking pages and site maps have a PR0 or gray bar, does this mean that the useless linking hype has come to an end?

Concerning the purchase of Applied Semantics. Is it possible that in the future google will move away from Conventional SEO tactics and move more towards ranking sites on an importance/quality of their content? Is that technology you are working on?

When will Google give me back my own URL instead of the affiliate URL it awarded me in Jan, resolved correctly in Feb, and then brought right back in May?

Seriously, though, when are we going to see some real results from this endless update or whatever you want to call it...

What do you consider to be the biggest threat to search engine user satisfaction (SEUS) in the foreseeable future?
Linking based on pr, rather than the user?
Unlimited instant pages created dynamically based on search queries?
Multiple domains used to create themes?
Something else?

Dear GG,

I want to have your personal opinion.

What do you think about SEO? Do you think there will be a room for SEO in future WWW world?

Search engines are changing into Yellow Pages ,with all those banners , sponsor links ,PPC etc..

Almost every major search/portal service offers related keywords with their results. I imagine a feature like this could take adwords to another level in terms of targeting. Should we be expecting a feature like this in the near future from Google?

If so, what option looks more promising: clustered results like AllTheWeb and Vivisimo or something simple and similiar to what Yahoo displays?

Does Google ever plan to include support for cookie based variables in it's bots?

(ie. when you come to one of my sites you are assigned some variables that ensure you see the most relevant (time sensitive) data based on a number of choices. As you can imagine Google runs into a whole lot of errors when it tries to index parts of my site. If they could store a cookie variable they would see a wealth of information not visible now.)

Two months ago, I increased my inbound links from 40 to over 80. Cassandra was good to me as it increased my PR from 4 to 5. With Dominic, I am back down to 4 again.

What really has me puzzled now is I lost about 75 of the 80 backlinks I had. I immediately checked all my link partners and sure enough they are all still there!

What could have caused that Google Guy? I know there's been some real serious changes to the algo in the Dominic update but how can you explain such drastic changes overnight?

Hi Googleguy,

As per my information, Google is undergoing many major changes. Can you please specify, what all changes are going to be incorporated in Google as for the following:

1.) Site submission and inclusion of web pages (for both new and old websites) in Google search and Image search,
2.) Search results ranking (from the point of SEO),
3.) Spam control policies and Multiple domains inclusion (.com, .net, .org, .ca, .au., etc. with same / different content or languages and domains with same or different content with different domain names altogether such as abc-inc.com, widgets.com referring to same company)
4.) Display of "permanent" last date of updation in cache pages / under the description,
5.) Google crawls and updates.
6.) Also, I have come to know that Page Rank calculation system is going to be changed too to make it more fast and accurate. Please give some tips about this too.
7.)Also please specify, if Google submissions are going to be made paid in near future, like others, and
8.)The Google Directory updates from DMOZ.
9.)Backlinks - Why is Google showing some links where there are more pointing to any particular website.
10.)The number of search results shown vary from the actual number of results found. Why? Is Google taking care of this also?

I think answers to all these questions in a single thread, would benefit all (users, SEOs, webmasters, website owners, etc.) as it covers all the major aspects of Google.

Thanks & Regards

Guddu

Hi GoogleGuy,

My question relates to all of us Search Engine Optimizers here in WebMasterWorld in general.

"Where do you see Search Engine Optimization as an industry being placed 5 years down the line? Do you forecast any major changes in the way the Search Engines function or worse, the way people retrieve information from Internet, that Search Engine Optimizers will be thrown out of the business and their livelihood? Something in a way revolution in the past has seen Diesel Engines replacing Steam Engines and the associated industries.

Thank You
Mc

Note: I know this question isn't particular to Google, but who else to look upto if not the market leader "Google"?
