PR keeps fluctuating?

since 1 week my PR keeps fluctuating.
it was 8 before.
now its 0...and then it gets back to 8.
my traffic has been the same though.

any idea whats happening guys?

On some pages, the toolbar is definitely out-or-order right now. PR7 to grey bar to PR7 just now on a research site I check. Other sites, most of mine included, seem very stable. Interesting to watch, but I'm going to wait for the dust to settle a bit more.

Hi,

FYI, this current page has a grey bar (not currently ranked by Google), which is quite unusual on WW.
There are even some PR0 pages. I'm quite sure there's no penalty involved :)

A little worrying - I have a site where every internal page is PR0 or fluctuating between PR0 and PR2. The home page is fluctuating between PR4 and PR2. The site was a PR4 throughout last month and is around 3 months old. It doesn't do anything spammy at all.I do Hope this isnt the hidden text filters going wrong.

This is dominic playing with your head. I too have fuctuating PR. It depends on which datacenter you hit. Sometimes I have no backlinks, and sometimes I see my old ones. Googleguy has said repeatedly that things will be a little nuts till they finalize things.

Dominic will continue to freak everyone out till it settles. Then and only then will we be able to start figuring things out.

I also have a white bar on a few pages on my site, but if I refresh it can then jump back to the old PR4 or PR5, it will settle down soon I hope :)

I have the same problem in a new site (less than two months old).

The code is absolutely clean: no tricks, no hidden text. No spamming tricks: no links farms, no artificial link popularity etc. Only few good links from Dmoz, and other authoritative sites.

The PR was 5.

Now the PR is shifting from 0 to 5. Ranking is absolutely the same in all the 9 google datacenters.

Checking the links on all the datacenters, yesterday, I
found them only on www -in.

Today I found only 1 link in all the datacenters excluding -in! ( -in have no links at all!).

The 1 link I found is a link that had been added yesterday in a human directory.

I think that in these day the google bar is not reliable if you have not several (thousands) links.

Conclusion: should this site be banned, most of the sites will be banned! It is better to be relaxed till the end of the fluctuation.

My theory is that Google is finding a compromise between guessing PR and calculating it on the fly.

One of my sites has just seen two new pages (prev PR gray) go to PR 0, but backlinks are showing for the pages. I'm expecting to see it creep upwards any minute now...

And my job is in a mess bcoz i am supposed to find Good sites to link. It's very confusing bcoz half the good sites are showing grey bar. Including this page which again changed and showed PR when i pressed the Post button. This should be called Toolbar Dance ;)

My PR is up a point. However, all the anchor text is missing in action, and my main site is dying for the most important keyword search. :(

I've abandoned all hope that Google will sort this out in a reasonable time. I can just hope after a month or 2 my moribund site will again be in the good graces and blessings of Google for the main keyword. If you really think your life is over, a tablespoon of potassium cyanide will end the pain. However, if you can hang on for a month or 2 then maybe, just maybe your site will be findable in Google again.

I, mil2k and IndianDomian all are in india and we are seeing this here for the first time - infact today morning we saw the SJ SERPs migrated to www.

angiolo, -in is the only data center left showing the old index that is why your links are still there. Hopefully today you will have 1 link in -in also. that will mean we are getting to the next phase.
