What does Google -sj use as Text for the Index?

are there rules it uses to "read" a page?

Pages with the exact same structure are indexed differently in -sj. And I am not using frames.

In google -sj some of my pages are well-indexed using text from the right hand side of the page, for example:

Clothing: Reports

Clothing. Code, Name, Price, 3139, Shoestrings in Azerbijan - October 2002, $60.00, 3813, Hats in Chile ...
URL

While other entries use the stuff from the left hand part of the page (totally useless for the searcher as too general):

Food: Reports

Home, Search, Report List, Country, Topic, Basket Contents, Checkout,Contact Us, Sign In Reports by Country Reports by Topic…

Is there anything I can do to get google to show text from the right hand side of the page consistently in the google entry?

No, you can't control it.

The text that is shown is an auto generated excerpt. The text that gets pulled is text that contains the keyword you search for, so your listing will look different depending on the search.

the excerpts i used above were from an allinurl: type search so my search term was the same. Does that explain it?
