URL Forwarding from delisted site

Does it hurt to forward a URL that was delisted?

Maybe this is a dumb question but I have read that forwarding a URL doesn't hurt PR like having a mirror site does. However, I recently changed domain names and set the old name to forward to the new one. I kept my development site on the old name though and it's PR has been greyed out. Could the development site be seen as a mirror site even though it's on a different domain (i.e. dev.domain.com)? There are no links going to my production site from the dev site but I am worried because both production and dev are on the same IP address. I forward all WWW traffic from domain.com to domain2.com, the new domain.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Welcome to WebmasterWorld twookie,

I would not worry about the development platform mirroring the site as long as they are on the same server. You might run into a problem should you try to seperate them or you start linking to the dev version.

Well it appears that my fears were valid... my entire site (the new domain for production) has been delisted. You would think that google would make allowances for development sites and/or name changes.

I bet the problem arose when we changed our domain name and began forwarding all our traffic to the new domain from the old one.

Well I'm off to search ww.com for how to get relisted. If anybody has any insights not found elsewhere I'd sure appreciate the info.

Thanks!
