I've been quiet over the last couple of days after ranting when this all started because I have been assuming things would get better for me in the SJ and FI results etc.... but as of yet still nothing to get excited about. I just wondered what other peoples perceptions are at this point in time on the overall update moving forward.

1) Very Happy -Doing great up there for all my important terms.
2) Happy - Slightly higher rankings than last month.
3) Average - Haven't really gained or lost.
4) Poor - Lost quite a few important keywords.
5) Diabolical - The whole update is awful please revert back to current SERPS.

GG mentioned things would start to improve as they factored things in.....mine haven't so I'm going for number 5....hoping that they will at some point....

My own experience: I was ranked great for very important keyphrases the last 6 months along with another 9 sites who all jostled for position on the first page. I'm now page 7 and they are all still jostling for the first page although I have far more backlinks, pages indexed etc... etc....

Googleplex must have GG locked in a room without a Web connection for the last few days...

for most sites 2.
or some sites 1.

And for some other sites 3, but I think this is because the new links are not taken into account yet.

So total is 1 :)

If this holds, Google is definitely broke.

For commercial categories the sj index is way more spammy than Ink, Altavista, Alltheweb

I seem to be doing ok but it's hard to tell since I can't see any backlinks from the past 3 months.

Overall, worst results in a long, long time

A definite 4 with most of my websites with a few 3's for others. A very sad face so far this month :(

2)

I made major changes to two sites, and have not lost too much on one and killed on the other. All in all, this has been good for me.

On the other hand, I still have a PR0 on a site that I can't figure out what I did wrong since the basic setup is the same as others. Odd.

Hi guys, I am fairly new here.

According to what I see on sj, I have to give it a 5.

Simply because neither of my hard worked sites are listed at all in sj! Although I know panic doesn't help, but as the every second passes, I am getting more worried.

Do you think google will simply replace the current WWW result with the horrible sj result? or just slowly adding the result from SJ to WWW, if so, at the least, the old result can still keep my site alive.

To clarify: I am NOT talking about PRs, BackLinks although I have had them all. I am talking about my sites are NOT LISTED at all on sj!

I don't spam.

3.5 for me. Slight decreases across the board. Nothing dramatic like a Page 2 move but more like moves from a 2 position to a 4, one of which was a highly competitive term which will affect my bottom line no doubt.

A strange thing that I noticed is that the major term where my site went from a 2 to a 4, I have more back links than the site that replaced it, a higher pr, a dmoz listing and the site is set up pretty se friendly. That's the way the ball bounces I guess. It's times like this I'm glad I don't put all my eggs in one basket.

"before they would revert to last months index for 2-3 days during the dance. these days, they just put out incomplete and inconsistant results."

My results are ok. Lost some ground(#2 to #8), gained some(#9 to #8), and stayed the same(#1). What is annoying is that there are some results that do not belong at all. I am not refering to spam, allthough I see one at #4 that will be goe when the filters kick in. I see 2 out of 10 results that just do not belong. Not even relate to the search.

I read one post that said we are getting to watch while the index is built, but this is like the adage about sausage, the end result is ok, but you don't want to see how it is made.

Could I get a couple of hundred volunteers to help me check the 15,000 keyphrases I got hits from last month to help me compare?

Since they started sending some of the www.google.com traffic to -sj and other datacenters with the new data, I have seen an increase in traffic. I hope this is a good sign.

Till it goes totally live with the recent data I will give it a tentative 2 based on the increase in traffic only.

Chicago
"this is like voting for an election without knowing the candidates and pary affiliations.
whats the point? "

Seems more like just an opinion poll of a knowledgable SEO base. Quite useful.

I have no pages from Aprils crawl on sj so I currently rate sj at 5.

I don't believe this is what the results will stay at and I will eventually rate the final update much higher.

If not there is always a tall building around from which to jump. ;)

1 here. I'm doing the aformentioned backflips.

I can only comment on our case, because I don't deal with SEO on any other sites. However, on www2, www3, sj, and fi, they do seem to be giving credit for backlinks that are not listed when you search link:www.yourdomain.com.

We were able to get a bunch of (non-spam) PR7 backlinks with our keyword phrase in the target. We've shot to the top of the list out of nowhere, but when you look at our backlinks, it doesn't list any of the ones that obviously got us there.

Just food for thought... :)

4 or 5

I have been #1 for keyword for almost 2 years. Keep the site clean and adding revelant links + content every month. Dropped to #3 now #4 on -sj. one of the sites above me has less links & PR and not one instance of keyword on site.

Other keywords have dropped off the map. I want to fix this but don't want to touch anything until the nighmare has finished.

I feel like I am watching a car crash in slow motion and can't do anything about it.

twilight47- i didn't intend to be so condescending- i voted myself. Just seems strange to vote on a moving target. Whatever reference point we are using to base our vote, it is about to change. When I see true, by the book, SEOs on this thread vote 4s and 5s, while those voting 1 say "wow didn't expect this". It should raise eyebrows as to the validity of our little sample. Not much happens by accident in the SEO world- surprises are a result of hard work, not getting lucky.

What exactly have all you hard workers been working hard on? And how did you know what you needed to do before Google changed their algorithm?

I'm really curious to hear exactly what y'all worked on that you are now benefitting from. Please let the rest of us know what we need to work hard on.

because of the changes taking place in google algos, and we don't know how they are implementing it, and GG isn't able to tell us exactly what is taking place:

no rating, because the sj and fi results could be phoney baloney. nothing to take stock in.

ask us again after the real update takes place- the www update- and we'll be happy to post our highlight results. we also look forward to hearing others reactions as well for those that are so inclined.

cheers all.

I would urge all those that are pleased with the SJ results to temper their enthusiasm becasue Google Guy said they still have yet to factor in the April crawl.

So, if your hard work had anything to do with backward links over the past couple of months you are NOT seeing it pay off yet.

I think it does include at least some of the April crawl. If not, then I say "bring it on" :D

Because if this is the result without the April crawl, I can't wait to see what wonderful things are in store for us! :D
