SJ vs FI

What's your observation on results in SJ as compared to FI?

For two of my sites the cached pages show up on the sj server but "no documents found" on the fi server. Placement is 1 higher, backlinks are the same.

not showing cached pages on all pages on the fi server.. why?... don't understand.

There is a difference - I have seen difference in total number of pages for some SERPS

www-fi has a much larger index.
www-fi is very similar to www, but running new frontend code, same as on sj.
www-sj is very odd, where lots of sites have dropped.

www-fi is showing data from recent freshbot visit (3rd/4th May) www-si is not.

for what I am watching

fi shows more sites than sj below my site just because they are linking to my site and name the keywords - useless information from the point of people searching - sj makes that mistake only once

fi has got 2 thirds of the pages of my site compared to sj (site:url -blablabla)

it is a new site from March 20.

I need paracetamol, they shows my ABOUT page instead of my index page! And sometimes they show the pages that links to me instead of me even with the exact title of my site!

I need to vote for SJ instead of FI. If FI came out to be the new index, then someone has to send me to the hospital. Or at least call an ambulance for me.

I'm hoping fi is a newer iteration that is "closer to the truth", because the results are closer to what I'm used to seeing.

SJ works pretty fine for me, but if the filters googleguy mentioned would work it would be much finer. Those sites with 200 Backlinks ONLY from guestbooks are going on my nerves!

If fi would be the new index : suicide! ;)

If it's any comfort to AthlonInside and Co. one of my sites seems to be totally ignored on the fi server. It was ranked #1 on the sj server for 2 major KW phrases.
The only slightly reassuring thing about the search results I get is that when my sites is being ignored on the fi server approx 4 of the pages on the first page are not specifically to the search, for example it is returning a site for "blue widget" or "green widgets" when the search was for "red widgets".

I've been watching FI and it looks like it is changing. For me looks better.

I would have to second that on SJ for my SERP’s. I am getting clean result’s not much spam on SJ. FI I am getting more news articles related to the products not the product’s them selves and a lot of referral links. FI seems to have retained some of the spam that was removed from SJ.

So if i had to pick one it would be SJ

Maybe it's a good idea to report [google.com] such sites to google.
Maybe the sites automatically drop if all filters are enabled at google.
However, reporting guestbook spam can't hurt, imho.

I have reported some of those sites, but some appeared in sj the first time. I will wait until the update settled and take a look at the serps tehn. If they are still there I will report them.

fi has newer backlinks database, as I see it comparing to sj and has bigger index then www and sj.

So probably these are the new data with new algo ... but who knows ;)

P.S. I would vote for fi, but I would like it to be updated more ... looks like the database of backlinks is not completely restored.

For an existing site:

SJ: #41 of 426K, 5 backlinks
FI: #43 of 484K, 5 backlinks

SJ is showing three of my new sites, probably picked up by freshbot, but I can't be sure. I can tell from the cache that all three were fetched after April 21st. FI is only showing one of these three sites, the newest one.
