I think the whole "1-online" thing just looks naff.
I still think .com carries weight amongst users and just can't see that changing in the next few years.
Are you selling widgets or services relating to widgets?
Examples:-
(singular)
online-widget-services.com
widget-shopping.com
widget-shop.com
all-things-widget.com
(plural)
the-widgets-shop.com
we-sell-widgets.com (I like being direct!)
cheapest-widgets.com (OK, if you really sell cheap tat)
(Branded)
[brandname]-widgets.com
Branded is easy to get the .com for and I think looks better than a .net or whatever, and better than a numeral "1" stuck in front of something just because you can't get the domain of choice.

if what you are saying is true then 1-online-widgets.com would rank same as online-widgets.com?
Yes, shouldn't it? Of course, 1-online-widgets is harder to remember, and PR and page text matter much more.

[brandname]-widgets.com
This is my favorite, if you only sell widgets, and widgets is a short, single word.
