Hello Markis 00 and welcome to Webmaster World!

Hummm... my common logic would probably tell me no. But I'm not 100% sure on it.

Maybe somebody would know for sure in here

banned means "banned"... non-existent, doomed, out-of-here... the good news... you're still in AllTheWeb! ;)

How certain are you?

After beeing in google for a long time I received a grey PR for my site and dropped completely off the index.

But I still get spidered on a daily basis.

So can I assume I was not banned, but rather "lost"?

if the spiders are coming you are not lost
if the spiders stop coming then your lost,

Google knows your site is out there but they are not letting you into the index.

markis00, Google is not an unfair company. They may gray out your toolbar for various offenses ... but they will still keep an eye on your site (by sending the bot around) to see if you have cleaned up the problem. As soon as you remove the offending material, (hidden text, hidden links, orphan pages, duplicate pages, doorways, etc.) you may well see your site back in the index! :)

10,000 backlinks and only PR5 means -PR3 imposed

Are you coming to say it is supposed to be pr8 with 10,000 backlinks? if so how google calculates that -pr3? Can you please explain? thanks

So what is it? I'm not in the index and haven't been for a few weeks now. The freshie hit my site but only an orphaned page and my robots file...so I figured maybe it was coming back but it didn't, and even the orphaned page didn't get a freshie index on google. If I'm not in the next update in May(I was deeped way back at the beginning of April) then chances are I was banned for a small problem I had with my title tag.

I have a site created in 1999 and has a lot of rich contents. has only pr4

while another site relatively new but pr5

the pr4 has many backlinks including dmoz, google and yahoo and many links from my other sites.

and pr5 no backlinks except from dmoz, google and yahoo.

So from this thread I am also wondering the pr4 site is penalized? bacause the links from my own other sites?

-pr3?

How can I find out if it has penalty?

"As soon as you remove the offending material, (hidden text, hidden links, orphan pages, duplicate pages, doorways, etc.) you may well see your site back in the index! :)"

Since when are orphaned pages illegal in Google? I have one page that used to be connected to the rest of my site, however I recently removed it. It's still in the google index. No links on my site (or the rest of the net) connect to this page yet I still saw no reason to delete it.

Are you saying this is somehow improper according to google?

Please explain. Maybe I misunderstood you.

In my experience, writing google an email and asking whether you were removed or simply missed has gotten me a helpful response. I'd recommend emailing them. They may not tell you why, but they should tell you yes or no.

And of course, make sure there's nothing shady on your site.

A backlink is a link to your site from another.
