Hi

I've to replicate a page from 1 site onto a different site.
The pages are identical.

Whats the minimum I must do to alter the second new page so as its not seen by G as a duplicate?

I think Brett said elsewhere that a page needs to change by 1kb in order to attract the freshbot.

Would changing my page by 1kb also avoid the dupe filter?

TIA

Do you really need both copies of this page in the SERPs? Why not let Google remove one?

If it's a single page from many on each site I don't think you will have too big a problem. This particularly applies if you can change the formats a bit, and maybe have a couple of different links on them (or add some to one of them).

I've always found that one page makes little difference - and look at the number of sites around that publish the same press releases/etc.

Just use common sense, don't set out to abuse the SE, and you should be fine.

Thx for that
Suffice to say theres a bit of IP detection going on ;)

I was thinking that if I've 2 sites each with 50 pages of identical content and structure, that if I change the titles & add 1-2k text on each page of the second site, I'm hardly likely to trip a filter? Or am I?

(We're not talking serious spamming here btw & theres no X-linking between the sites)

Anyone got experience of this?
