Traffic stats vs. Google Ranking

Does anyone have any data on ranking vs. traffic.

A few months ago (maybe 4), I began following Bretts tips for bringing in 15-20k visitors a day. Anyway, I have finally gotten into the top 10 for one of my main keywords and a handful of other (thanks Brett).

I have noticed that a jump from the Top 20 to the Top 10 (last update) has tripled my traffic.

Anyone have any traffic numbers comparing Top 10 to Top 3, or #1, etc.?

I know that it depends on the competitiveness of the term, but I am just looking for averages. Just need a new carrot to dangle in front I guess.

I've always been intrigued regarding SERP performance.

My problem always was that, as a directory site, I didn't target anything (my profit is not from visitors, but from paying subscribers which is a 99.9% offline business)

I often track interestign referals, and found to be top 3 SERPS for MANY dozend competitive international searches, and 100s if the country is included (it's a local directory). I'd like to start tracking SERPs and perhaps add small content text to listings for certain categories that already rank high to see if it changes.

It's really strange for me, since most of my high ranking pages are simple listings of company names and address/tel info, no realy content, and no keyword optimisation.

I would love to compary specific keyword combos with others, to see how my site compares to a properly optimised page, and if I can beat it out, and most importantly WHY.

sticky me if you think you have relevant keyword optimised pages. Thanks.
