Okeedokee guys, first and foremost a bi "Hi y'all" (required- I'm from tennessee) and many thanks for this board and those who contribute.
I am working on google placement and am wondering if there are any specifics on proximity of key words. I have managed to create a page a day on a given topic where my keywords are right together, just as the overture STST (Search Term Suggestion Tool-?) has specified that they were searched for. My question is this:
Will Google see this as spam or is this the way to go?
Should I break the search phase apart?

many thanks in advance,
-nathan

PS, what's the scoop on the Google IPO- I've opened an e-trade account just for the occasion. Any clear dates yet?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Nathan.

Do you mean "keyword1 keyword2" or "keyword1keyword2"?

"keyword1 keyword2" matches a search for "keyword1 keyword2" much better than "keyword1 other words keyword2" does. In my opinion, this proximity bonus is one of the things that helped Google to be more relevant than other engines for typical users who didn't know about the NEAR operator elsewhere.

"keyword1keyword2" does not match people searching for "keyword1 keyword2". If people tend to search with and without the space, then it may be worth using both versions in your page, or having a page for each (both with unique content of course).

You should take a look at the recently added Google IPO Watch [webmasterworld.com] Forum.
