An easier way to know how many pages google has trawled?

this is a useful figure to measure on a regular basis

Hi

When I signed up for the free google search utility I noticed it said something like 'There are approximately XX pages of you site in the google index'.

Is there an easy way to find this out if I am interested in checking this for a few domains? (other than signing up for the free search for each domain!)

Thanks
Matthew

i'm not sure what 'free google search utility' you signed up for, but if you go to google and type in:

site:www.yoursite.com yoursite

it will return approximately all the pages on your site.

There are also some websites out there where you can compare different websites and how many pages are listed on each search engines...search for 'search engine saturation tool' or something like that.

>>site:www.yoursite.com yoursite<<

I've never got that one to work properly/accurately - it always seems to vary for me...

I have a section of text that's in the footer of every page in my site (usual copyright nonsense) and I just search for that. That's usually pretty accurate.
