I cant find the one that says about the meta-tags though.
I know who posted it, Brett did, he said that the panel was asked "who reads the meta-keyword tag?" all except Inktomi said they dont read or give it any weight :)

So, would you call the keywords tag deprecated?
Not until the W3C officially declares it as deprecated. I don't always believe everything I hear. Even if the current major SE's do not read the keywords meta tag, what about future SE's that may? And what about Ink?
It takes less than a minute to properly configure the keyword meta tag. If you don't want to spend too much time on it, just be sure to include your main keyword phrase for that page and possibly one or two others.
Things change over time. Take the meta description tag for example. It was claimed that Google was not reading information in this tag a while back. Now we've got plenty of sightings where Google is reading and displaying the meta description tag. I wonder how many people went back and added the tag after not having it to begin with.
Using your metadata correctly is part of proper web design. If you want to eliminate your keywords tag, you can. But, I think you may be shooting yourself in the foot in the long run! ;)
