PR of 0 - no illegal methods used - site online for 3 years

My site has always had a PR of 0. I have never used any illegal tactics whatsoever. The site has been live for 3 years and has always has a PR of 0. There are a good amount of sites that link to us. How do I get out of this? It almost seems as if my site has been blacklisted for some reason because my Google ranking have always been atrocious. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about posting my URL, but I figured that it was the only way someone could see my site and really see what was going on.

I have never use Webposition gold on that site. I have never really had any traffic or decent rankings at all from google. Its weird too because my keywords arent super competitive. There arent more than 50 other companies, and I would say no more than 10 of them are really optimized.

ystores,

well I managed a quick glance at ur URL before the edit took place.

let me assure you that it was quite obvious why you have been penalised, unfortunately webmasterworld does NOT do site reviews so I wont bore you with details.

but suffice to say WebpositionGold, Free4all Link exchanges did NOT do u any favours.

get a new domain and start again is my advice.

Any of the link exchanges were done years ago. My business and reputation have been based on the name. Is there anything at all I can do to get myself out of this?

ystores,

may I suggest you put a posting in the commercial exchange forum:
[webmasterworld.com...]

here you will be able to possibly request the assistance of a PR0 rescuer, who would be in a position to analyse your site and possibly advise on future strategy.

I saw that your brand/domain is crucial to your business, so maybe outside help is required to achieve your desired result.

good luck.

Might I suggest using valid URL's or Universal Reference Locators.

Although browsers can parse file:///C¦/Documents%20and%20Settings/Administrator/Desktop... etc. Googlebot is probably spitting it out as garbage.

In addition - it appears as most of your site is "Javascript" links. "on click" Googlebot can not do - therefore you have a one page "spit of garbage" that Googlebot can not do anything with...

I believe.

My site uses very little javascript. Only three links are javascript based and thats only for the rollover image.

Sorry folks, but we really don't do site reviews.

ystores, welcome to WebmasterWorld. It looks like there are indeed some problems with your site, from what members have seen just by a quick glance. I would suggest to really reevaluate the site.
Often a good hard look at a site brings up very valuable insights into what you should avoid in future, and where the site's performance in ses can be streamlined.

I am not looking for a review, or any optimization. I am trying to find a way to get myself out of the PR 0 hole that I have been stuck in forever, without changing domain names. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ystores, have you tried emailing Google yet?
Did you read their documents on inclusion guidelines?

I am trying to find a way to get myself out of the PR 0 hole that I have been stuck in forever, without changing domain names.

I don't have any experience getting unbanned, but from what I've read, you shouldn't have to change domains - just clean up the site, and any adverse links to it, and email Google.

Which kinds of links are considered illegal? Just link farm links? Or anything unrelated to my site?

Unrelated links don't help but aren't quite as bad as link farms (the horrid).

Sticky me if you want further help.

Ystores_

If you have spent any amount of time on WW, then you have a pretty good idea of what is bad. If you have not spent time, then I suggest you do so.

All the answers you seek are within this site.

After reading through some of the threads that pertain to your dilemma, you can get an idea of what it is on your site that caused the problem.

Contacting Google until you clean the problem up will do you no good. They will only give a vague response as to what the problem is.

If you don't want to start with a new domain name, do a little research here and you should be able to get out othe mess your in.

It might take a dance or two, so the sooner you fix it, the quicker you will get back in.

Good Luck!

Sorry folks, but we really don't do site reviews

I didn't see a request for a review but a request for help in identifying the reason for a PR0 penalty. A reasonable request in my humble opinion.

ystores, try posting on a different webmaster forum without such restrictive rules. I'm sure someone will be pleased to help and newbies will be able to actually learn from your mistake.

Ystores, why not put your url in your user profile so we can all take a look and figure out what is going on. I would be interested to see what gives as it should help us all in the future.

I posted my url in my profile. I just discovered this forum and didn't realize it was so restrictive. Thanks for your support Kerrin and Fleapit

I did a search to see which site are linking to me and I discovered that there are over 1,000. I signed up for this garbage called Link Topics over 3 years ago and didn't realize the negative impact it would have. I have started e-mailing some of the site owners, but then I discovered there's over 1,000 of them. E-mail keep getting bounced back as well. Link topics has since closed their website, so I have no way of having it removed automatically.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get over 1,000 sites to remove their link to my site?

ystores, I don't really see a chance to get those links removed without changing urls.
Basically there are 2 ways to go from here:
1. make sure your site is squeaky clean, then email google and ask for a 2nd chance
2. change urls. Perhaps you can get a very similar url, so that your branding is not completely lost.

You might also consider a mixed approach: building a new site, while trying to get the first unbanned. In taht case you have to make sure you don't run into duplication issues: the two sites would have to have really original content.

ystores

My incorporated name is <snip>. It is on our business cards, stationary, and virtually everything we do. Changing to a new domain really is not an option for us. The site has always been squaky clean. I have never used anything that would be deemed inappropriate by the search engines other than that 1 link exchange, 3 years ago.

Ystores - contact Google. We are not the place to plea for pr0 removal - that's between you and Google.

..."take your pr0 like a man and move on" -(oilman).

ystores

I didn't expect anyone to be able to fix it for me. This is a forum about search engines and rankings. I figured it would be one of my best options to contact the members here and see if anyone could help.

People said it was from being part of a link exchange. IThe director of the link exchange said that I am listed in google, therefore not banned and must not have relevant keywords. Is there any truth to this, or does it sound like I am banned? He seems confident that his service did not hurt us at all. If anyone wants to take a look, sticky me or you can see my url in my profile.

Once again, I am not looking for anyone just to solve this for me. I am looking for insight on why this could have happened and what I can do to get myself out of it.

Thanks for your help.

As someone else mentioned, post your url in the "Homepage" field in your User profile. Or else this thread will go no where.

If it's those links that are doing it, then basically it's your fault you're in the mess. And where can I find that link company to submit my competitors? :D

I don't think that you are allowed to put URL in profile either. [webmasterworld.com...]

ystores

I have no idea what's doing it. That's what I am trying to figure out. If its those links, then I'll get rid of it. But they havent been live for years. I have no idea what it could be other than that.
