Has anyone else noticed that there seems to of been a recent change at google regarding backward links?

Previously my site <snip> had over 70 backward links to it. It now has 3.

It seems to be where you had links back from different pages on one site, i.e If I designed a ten paged website and had a link to my site on every page it was counted as ten links.

Now just one link back from the site is counted, also you now only get links back from sites ranking 4/10 or better. A lot of sites have dropped in ranking too because of the single link back. So you lose more that way as some of the 4/10's drop to 3/10's.

Has anyone else noticed this or have any solutions to overcome this.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Steve

Quite a few members have noticed the things you tell about:

[webmasterworld.com...]

and

[webmasterworld.com...]

The solution? Hard work creating pages that other webmasters would want to link to.
