Hi,

One of my major competitors, baught thousands and thousands of links from a major site. I guess he did this sometime around the 28th of March. Now, immediately i could see his sites get top ranks and he did maintain them for 3 days, much to my chagrin!

Then pooof, he vansihed!. Now after the update, he doesn't seem to be anywhere on the ranks he was previously at.

My theory is that its the everflux that gave him the brief boost. And then he vansihed. I figured he would be back on top after the dance. However, he's not there.

So does the site where he put his links up have to be deepcrawled too before he gets great ranks OR has ggl caught him out?.

I think that the site where he has advertised needs to be deep crawled too. But is this true?. His links do have the fresh date everyday but he ain't got those top links. Is it true that the site where he put his links up needs to be deep crawled by GGL for him to get up there permanently?.

I know for a fact that the other sites advertising on the SAME site have thee amazing ranks. So how did they get up there while he didn't? Were you to see the backlinks, this guy has more of them from sites other than the ones coming in from the advertising site.

An important point to note is that his backlinks do not reflect the advertising site. weird. why is it working for others on the same site but not him?.

wait for the next update for the real effects to show up.

you are correct in my opinion about the Freshbot effect picking up all them links to give him a boost.

hey shak thanks for such a quick reply. But the guy is planning to remove the links from the advertising site, cos i'm sure he spent a fortune on it and he's pretty upset it didnt work already!.

So i figure that if he removes it now, he'll never make it in the next update either eh?.

some interesting stuff been happening with baclinks lately.

but if they went up on 28th March, and he removes them now or before the deepcrawl starts, than (imo) they will NOT show as backlinks next month, and neither will he get a PR boost (not that he was guaranteed that in the 1st place).

Personally have NO sympathy for the dude, wanna play games like this, then you gotta bankroll it with Mucho Dineros, and before you play, learn the rules.

u know what shak, he ain't got no sympathies from me!. But the fact that he wasn't guaranteed a PR boost is wrong imo cos every other site that advertises on this particular site i am talking about HAS a great PR. And, guess what, these sites that benefit have just ONE link apart from the ones this huge site throws at them. So it obviously works!

and who was the guarantee meant to come from, the Site selling the links, or Google themself.

Yes if he let the deepcrawl plus 1 or 2 updates pass, then "maybe" PR would have passed through.

His mistake of thinking it was that easy :)

naturally I am assuming thats its a blatant PR selling exercise and the backlinks for NOT for traffic purposes but to dupe Google right? therefore he screwed up.

theposter - Shak has been around long enough to understand how SEO/SEM works - there is no instant gratification unless you go down te PPC route. A good linking campaign takes months to put in place - and will get you the results you want if you let it mature properly.

Like any good cheese or wine it is best not taken when it is completely new.
